At Capital Area Pediatrics, we believe well-child care is the foundation for keeping children healthy. Well-child visits begin shortly after birth and last until young adulthood. Because childhood is a time of rapid growth and change, regular well-child visits to the pediatrician are important to your child’s health and well-being. Even if your child is healthy, well-child visits are a good time to focus on your child’s wellness, talking about ways to improve care and prevent problems to keep your child healthy.
A well-child visit is a critical opportunity to detect a possible developmental delay; promote behaviors conducive to healthy development; and give age-appropriate counseling, or anticipatory guidance.
Our health care team can provide preventive care by assessing your child’s physical, behavioral, developmental, and emotional status. Visits can include physical measurements, patient history, emotional/ behavioral assessments, and planned procedures (vaccinations, screenings and other tests). Please see the links below, by age, of what to expect at your upcoming well-child visit.
