Meet Amin Akhlaghi, MD, FAAP
Capital Area Pediatrics would like to welcome Dr. Amin Akhlaghi to our Herndon office. Dr. Amin, as his patients call him, is from the area and has recently moved back to Vienna from Michigan with his wife and baby in order to be close to their families.
Prior to joining Capital Area Pediatrics, Dr. Amin worked at a hospital based clinic in Alpena, Michigan where he also attended high risk deliveries. He received his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica and completed his residency training at Maimonides Children’s Hospital of Brooklyn, NY. In 2012 he co-led a volunteer medical relief effort in Brooklyn in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Prior to attending medical school, he taught middle school conceptual chemistry and worked at the Institute of Medicine on nutrition and childhood obesity.
Seeing a 5-month-old giggle, high-fiving a 7-year-old and getting a teen to really open up about their health concerns are some the rewarding things Dr. Amin experiences as a pediatrician.
He loves spending time with his wife and son. He also has a rascal of a dog, loves freshwater ecology, woodworking, and tinkering with electronics.
