REVIEW USMeet Aaron Lopata, MD
Dr. Aaron Lopata has worked part-time with Capital Area Pediatrics, mostly on weekends, since 2004. He works full time as a Senior Medical Advisor for the Maternal & Child Health Bureau at the Department of Health and Human Services where he helps to implement programs that help women have healthy pregnancies.
Dr. Lopata grew up in the Chicago area and attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He then moved west to do his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. After residency, he practiced pediatrics for one year for a group of clinics that served low-income communities across the Valley around Los Angeles. Deciding that he wanted to help address issues that impact children's health outside the clinic, he went back to school to get a Masters in Public Policy at UCLA. In late 2003, he moved to Washington DC to work on public health policy at the federal level. And in 2004, he began working part time at the Capital Area Pediatrics Vienna clinic, and has continued working with this wonderful, dedicated team of healthcare providers since that time.
